The following Privacy Statement verifies that the Inventors Assistance League, hereafter known as "IAL", takes your privacy seriously. We are committed to ensuring the privacy of our members and encourage our partners and other Internet users to do the same. This statement discloses the privacy practices for this entire Web site.
Our goal is to build users trust and confidence in the Internet by promoting the principles of disclosure and informed consent. bacause this site wants to demonstrate its commitment to your privacy, it has agreed to disclose its information practices by letting you know in advance.

Personally Identifiable Information
Personally Identifiable Information is data by which a single individual can be identified (i.e. name, address, social security number). Some Personally Indentifiable Information may be gathered as part of IAL's member registration process, including name and address, telephone numbers, company name, credit card number and expiration date. IAL will provide each member with an account number that may be used to access portions of this web site that are otherwise use restricted to non-members of IAL. In addition, IAL may ask each member to provide a "secret word" associated with the assigned account number. This "word" is used by customer support personnel to make sure that the member who requests a service change is empowered to make the request.
IAL uses the name and address information to validate the credit card information, which is used to obtain payment information for services and products that IAL members may request from time to time. IAL member information is kept on a secured computer and is only available to IAL employees who need it to do their job. Credit card numbers are sent to the credit card processing company to charge our members for the services and/or products purchased. Name and address are provided to a fulfillment house when it is necessary to ship products to a member. The fulfillment house is not authorized to release IAL member information to third parties.
IAL, its partners and associates use e-mail and occassionaly other media to inform IAL members about product and services they currently have, as well as information about upcoming services or special offers. This information may include offers from third parties that IAL has reviewed and deemed of interest to our members.
Third Parties
IAL does not sell its member database to third parties. It may, however, provide personally identifiable information to third parties under the following circumstances.
- IAL occasionally offers services to its members through non-IAL Web sites (i.e., partners and associates) and third parties, who may collect personally identifiable information. IAL makes every effort to select business partners and associates who adhere to comparable privacy practices. However, IAL is not responsible for the actions of these third parties.
- Under court order or as requested by authorized Government agencies.
- IAL may utilize outside firms to conduct member research to improve its products and services. Under non-disclosure agreement these research firms may be provided member lists containing Personally Identifiable Information. The sole purpose of utilizing such information is for conducting research.
- Fulfillment houses that are contracted by IAL to expedite delivery of products and other deliverables to IAL members.
Anonymous Information
IAL collects information about the use of its Web site. Information collected is anonymous and cannot be linked to an individual. Visits to IAL's Web and FTP sites are logged. IAL records the quantity of visits and not Personally Identifiable Information. Data recorded in these logs are used to improve IAL's site performance and to help IAL improve the content and navigation of the site. Connect time data for each user session is captured and then used to create statistics of average user times. Aggregate and anonymous information is sometimes used to determine which marketing message will be delivered to a group of IAL members or non-IAL visitors on IAL's Web site.
Cookies
IAL does not make use of browser cookies. Cookies are files written to a member's disk and read by the http server program so the server program knows you visited the site before. Use of browser cookies can provide a better, more relevant member experience, as well as regulate Web site functions, such as timing, frequency and type of advertising. Cookies can also be used to automate entry into password-protected areas
